Required text for a graduate course and it fits perfectly. Enough background to get the ball rolling and then right into organometallics!

The author, Kylie Walker takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride with her characters and storyline.Jake had just pulled up to Chloe's house. The police were there and he was running towards Chloe as she dropped to the ground. Jake had managed to get within three feet of her when the officer told Jake to get down on the ground. Jake told the officer that he was Chloe's attorney and that she needed an ambulance now. The officer told him that he needed to secure the scene. Jake told him that he just arrived and he wasn't part of the scene. But that didn’t stop him from handcuffing and putting him the back of the police care. Kevin had just pulled up and managed to get things straightened out for Jake. Kevin told Jake to get to the hospital that he would handle things at the scene. The officer asks if they can tell him who the deceased is and Kevin told him he would take a look at the body, if it’s who he thinks it is they can go ahead and call his parents.Jake calls the Whitemore’s (Chloe’s parent’s) first because Derek is with them and tells them that Chloe is at the hospital. Trevor tells Jake they will be there as soon as they can. He call’s Roxie and picks her up on the way to the hospital. Jake and Roxie arrive at the hospital and ask the nurse how Chloe is doing. She tells them that the cut was to the bone and she is still in surgery. The doctor has to repair the artery and muscles in her arm. Kevin walks in along with two detectives and is updated on her condition. The detectives are asking questions and they give them the preliminary information. They are shocked that Jesse only got 2 years in prison.Chloe was just coming to after the surgery and she is thinking Jesse is dead. The nurse gets her to a room and when she comes to again she is asking for Derek, but Jake is there with Roxie. The nurse comes in and tells her that both she and the baby are fine. WHAT?Okay, you really need to read this book and series to find out what happens!!! Even though this book has a HEA you may need to keep a few tissues handy!! Just saying from my personal experience!!With this series ending, I can't wait to see what Kylie Walker has in store for all of her fans next!!!!

Parts 1-5: 5 stars, Part 6: 3 stars By Kindle Customer First let me say this is the only review I'm writing for all six books in the series because they are all pretty short. I also want to say ALL parts 1-5 got 5 stars from me. They are fantastic books. I loved each and every one of them and each one had me itching to read the next. Derek and Chloe's story was so sweet and Jesse... Man, Jesse was just the worst kind of psycho. Chloe chose to stop being his victim (physically and mentally) and we get to watch her confidence grow. It's a beautiful thing, as is the love she has found with Derek. The last book is the only one that fell flat for me. It was a beautiful HEA, which is fantastic, but it lost me in the verbose descriptions of everything. The houses (they went house hunting), the food, the everything, was described in so much detail that I just lost interest, and this was all after the HEA had already happened. I felt that it was all just kind of filler and that the series could have probably been wrapped up in the fifth book.Would I recommend it? Absolutely. As I said, the first five all got five stars from me. Completely worth it, but you might end up skimming a bit in the sixth.

Scarred was one story broken into parts which is indicated by the title on each of the 6 books. The actual story was amazing and easily had 5 star potential. However, there were numerous typos, such as sentences containing repeated words. I didn't give it five starts because it seemed too preachy to me in some parts where Chloe was interacting with her biological parents. I found myself pulled out of the story thinking enough already. I really hate being pulled out of an engrossing story by authors mistakes or wordiness. A couple of typos can be stumbled over and are forgivable. There were components that seemed to be there just to increase the length of the book. This story was very engrossing. With a good editor it could have been paired down to one outstanding book easily containing between 500 and 700 pages. I was able to read each book consecutively so I wasn't frustrated by the cliffhangers. Kudos to the author for making sure readers knew in advance that each part ended in a cliffhanger. I'm glad I read these books. I think the story will stay with me for a while and it's one I will remember for a long time. Since I read about 200 books a year, that doesn't happen very often. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a story of personal triumph and growth. This was an amazing love story about a woman learning to love herself, learning to trust another and learning to let others love her. It was an amazing love story about the love of parents and the love that can grow between people. But mostly it was a story about a woman's amazing journey to overcome her past and come out whole and strong and free in the end. If you're wondering, yes it did have a happy ending.I loved the characters and felt they were well developed. The story flowed well and was a quick read.

This is one of the many books on Japan that I have read that I used to improve my experience in Japan. In and by itself, it is lacking. Combining the information in this eBook with all of the other books on Japan that I found at Amazon that I could put into my Kindle's virtual library for free made it a worthwhile addition.I would recommend the entire collection; and, maybe there are others that I have missed. Get them especially if you are interested in Japan and the Japanese culture whether a visit is planned or just curiosity!

General employment of toxic munitions in World War I made it necessary for the United States as a belligerent to protect its soldiers against gas attack, and to furnish means for conducting gas warfare. The postwar revulsion against the use of gas in no way guaranteed that it would not be used in another war; and to maintain readiness for gas warfare, Congress therefore authorized the retention of the Chemical Warfare Service as a small but important part of the Army organization. Between world wars, officers of the Chemical Warfare Service anticipated that in another conflict the Service would again be principally concerned with gas warfare, and they concentrated on defense and retaliation against it. The almost equal preparedness of the United States and other nations for gas warfare acted during World War II as the principal deterrent to the uses of gas. That it was not used has obscured the very large and vital effort that preparations for gas warfare required at home and overseas. This effort involved large numbers of American scientists and the American chemical industry as well as the Chemical Warfare Service, and served not only the Army but also the other armed forces of the United States and those of Allied nations. And in World War II the Chemical Warfare Service and its civilian collaborators came up with some new major weapons, notably the 4.2-inch mortar, generators for large-area smoke screening, flame throwers, and incendiary and flame bombs. The Service acquired in addition an entirely new mission, that of preparing the nation against the hazards of biological attack. In fulfilling its responsibilities the Chemical Warfare Service during the war compiled a record of achievement that readers of this subseries both in and out of the Army, will find instructive.

This expansion was to be subsequently updated and expanded by J.R. de La Torre Bueno in his Glossary of Entomology with revisions in 1962, 1973, 1978, 1989 and 1991 which has become the "bible" of entomological terminology for the last five generations of entomologists. Indeed Torre Bueno subtitled his work as an update to this Smith glossary. Today's entomologists speak of the Torre Bueno glossary as our standard entomology dictionary, as in "hand me the Torre Bueno." This was the "Torre Bueno" of a century ago."Etymology" is not about current meanings, but about the origins of words. Therefore a modern entomologist should go to Torre Bueno for modern definitions. But this work by Smith, which served this same purpose a century ago, now provides a step back in time and provides earlier usages. As much as we want to standardize language, it is in the nature of science that new terms are introduced and terminology is refined. Dictionaries are history books, not law books, and usage changes over time. Smith includes archaic terms that were dropped by Torre Bueno and archaic terms are rightfully replaced by new conceptions. But in the discipline of insect systematics, it is still necessary to analyze and interpret descriptions of species described in the 1700s and 1800s and that terminology was often used differently. For instance, few modern entomologists would recognize the term "Archiptera" for "Neuroptera with incomplete metamorphosis" and this glossary will give access to that ancient distinction. "Arthromeres" are today's somites. And other terms have been completely eclipsed. There are definitions of some standard Greek and Roman root words. But entomologists searching for appropriate species epithets when naming new species should use more expansive guides to word composition. Finally there is the question of whether a book like this could be used as well or better online. It is doubtful that a person with a problematic 1800s description could merely search for the key word and then skip the rest of the text and come away with an understanding of the earlier usage. There is certainly no time advantage to using a search mode when this glossary is small and alphabetical. The electronic dip-scan-leave does not allow the researcher to read in depth and reconstruct the meaning in earlier context as well as pondering the sets of related definitions in the time they were written, as the introductory phrase "now-a-days" in the first line above conveys. Science is not sterile and cannot be understood divorced from its historical setting.John Richard Schrock

Review Big Al's Books and Pals: bit.ly/1LZ99UgReviewed by: ?wazithinkinThis story just became absolutely amazing. Tangled webs are woven in heaven and on earth. This book shifts points-of-view and each chapter ends with you sitting on the edge of your seat where it takes you on to the next nail-biting situation. It never lets up.Jordon's powers are growing and at war inside her heart and mind. She is pushed to test some of them out early in the book and managed to not lose control. She has no idea how strong she really is. She also makes a new friend, Xander, whom she feels drawn to but doesn't know why. The big boss sends Jordon on a mission, she gets to choose team members and if she completes her mission successfully she will be allowed to go back home to her brothers and Uncle Casen... or so he says.In heaven Michael is making power plays and Gabriel seeks help from the Virtues. Where Gabriel learns about the prophecy and is told there are certain stands he needs to take, despite Michael.Quinn discovers a powerful relic on the bookshelf Uncle Casen says he's never seen before. An old acquaintance shows up with a plan to find Jordon. Outraged when Uncle Casen and Nathan agree to give the plan a shot, Quinn takes off on his own with the relic. As he suspected, things go to hell back at the house. I can't say much more than the pace was fast, furious and emotional. Surprising twists in each storyline kept the suspense high. It was hard to put the book down and I found myself reading until my eyes wouldn't focus any longer. The climax... holy crap!Read the entire review here: bit.ly/1LZ99UgRating: ***** Five Stars

By Guerra Absolutely LOVED it.Usually, I don’t expect the second book in a series to be as good as the first (excluding Harry Potter, of course), but this author has pleasantly surprised me. Bravo to her.I have read all of this author's books and have found that her writing has matured…it has gone from a colorful caterpillar to a very elegant butterfly. She is definitely an author to keep your eye on and devour everything she writes.

Very few people can claim to have changed the course of religious history in a country, but that is the case with Anne Boleyn, whose marriage to King Henry VIII sparked the break with Rome and the beginning of the English Reformation. Anne herself is said by historians to have been intelligent, single-minded and articulate; more importantly, she is an early example of a woman who was able to succeed in a man's world, ensnaring a king and claiming influence way beyond her birthright. Eventually she was defeated by her enemies, but even a French executioner could not destroy her impressive legacy. This very short history provides an insight into one of the more complex characters in British history, examining a charismatic woman who continues to fascinate historians up to the present day. The Very Short History series gives the reader a clear, concise, and very short, account of the people and events that have shaped world history. Each book provides an entertaining and engaging narrative, allowing the reader to master the subject in the shortest time possible.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Contains basic factual errors By LauraP Dreadful. Poorly written and contains basic factual errors. Lady Rochford, for instance, was not condemned to death with her husband George Boleyn, but instead went on to serve Henry VIII's next three queens. She did die on the scaffold, but it was in connection with her role as go-between in the affair between Queen Catherine Howard (Anne Boleyn's cousin and Henry VIII's fifth wife) and Thomas Culpeper. If you want a quick summary of the facts pertaining to Anne Boleyn's life you are better off going to Wikipedia.

Mark isn't sure he believes in love, especially when he's torn between two very different men: his reliable boyfriend, Craig, and his illicit lover and priest, Richard. Mark knows what he should do, but he can't bring himself to give Richard up. The sex with Richard is unlike anything he's ever known with Craig, and he hungers for it as much as - if not more than - the truer intimacy he finds in his boyfriend's arms. When Craig discovers his betrayal, Mark is forced to look at his life more closely, but the path to self-knowledge is never an easy one. Richard seeks the way back to God, but Mark finds no solace there. Can he ever discover the truth of his own soul, or is he too afraid of what he will - or won't - find inside his heart?

And when that's taken from you - you're left drifting.I read this in one breath and not only because this is a short story, but 'cause it was so gripping and filled with dark passion, heavy thoughts and anguish about not being able to change a thing.. Such a perfect mix! I have rarely read a short story so well rounded and complete. :)I cannot possibly do a just review for The Heart's Greater Silence, so I'll just stop with saying that I loved absolutely everything about this book - the stunningly beautiful cover, excellent editing and formatting and, of course, the story itself. Will definitely read this again!

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Emotional and Draining...Well worth the read By Dominique Eastwick Small Spoiler Alert...This was one of those books that I read the excerpt and had to read the whole book. I was warned by the author that the book was a bit grim. So I was thankful for that bit of information before embarking on the story. It's well written and emotionally draining. I recommend the book but if you are looking for HEA you should wait to read it.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Have Faith That You Will Enjoy This Book By Amazon Customer I won this short story from booklikes. If you do not like graphic sexual descriptions this is not for you. I hate to say this about sex in books but I can take it or leave it. Anne, I think it would be correct to say, does a great job in describing sex and sex acts. But for the real bulk of the story, there is more to it.It is so funny I just read a short story from her yesterday where the sex was hidden and not spoken about. And then today I read this where it is all out in the open. But the real story here is about Mark. A man who has a boyfriend he loves, Craig. But he is sleeping with Richard. And Richard is a priest. So what happens when, for the first time Richard comes over to Mark's house because Craig is supposed to be out for the evening, but Craig comes home early? What happens to Mark and Richard? Will Mark choose Craig over Richard? And will Richard choose God over Mark?We find out about both men and their faith in God.This was a very interesting story and if you are not looking closely it seems all about sex but it is not. At least that is how I see it.If it had a good storyline, I would be able to get past the sex, I am not prude but everyone is different, and read another story like this especially from this author.

For many a trip to the dreaded death camps created by the Nazi’s in World War II was a death sentence. Many wouldn’t live for long after disembarking their train. Others were sentenced to hard labor that would eventually claim them or drive them to take drastic measures and attempt to escape. Most would be brought back, dead or soon to be dead.

There are some stories that stand out from the rest. Men who dared to defy one of the most brutal forces in history, the Nazi regime. These men weighted the odds and were determined to do what few managed to do, escape.

First we have the story of two men, whose motivation was not only to escape in order to ensure their own survival but the survival of others as well. They were determined to make it out and warn those that might be next for the camps. Would they make it out? Would anyone listen to what they had to say? Read more and find out.

The next story is that of not one or two men finding their way out of a camp, but an all-out revolt. After a shocking note lets them know that they are slated for extermination, desperate men resort to desperate measures to try and survive. Can the son of a Rabbi and a former Soviet music major rally enough men to entertain certain death? Will they succeed and at what cost? Learn more about their story and find out if they made it to freedom.

There is no doubt that the holocaust was one of the most shameful events in human history. There were triumphs though. Find out what became of these men who were desperate for survival.

Comments From Other Readers

“Sometimes it is easy to forget the brutality of the Nazis during World War II. The struggle that the Jews went through has been cast in shadow as we move on in time. The camps were a very real thing though. Very few found a way to escape the horror of these concentration camps. This book will help to enlighten the readers about what lengths men will go to in order to save themselves and the lives of others. Excellent story.” – Phillip (Washington, United Sates)

“This book is based on the true stories of those who were sent to death camps. They could be considered the fortunate few that were allowed to live. The story of those prisoners in Auschwitz who saw the atrocities there day after day saw trainloads of people brought in. It was the rumor that hundreds of thousands of other Jews were to be sent there to die immediately upon arrival that spurred a plan to escape and tell the world what was truly happening. This is a difficult book to read at times but it’s a story that needs to be told! I encourage everyone to get this book today and read it!” – Valerie (Texas, United States)

Astounding By Rachel Horon When one hears about the high security and cruelties of concentration camps including Auschwitz, it is hard to imagine that anyone could have escaped. Yet some did. Ryan Jenkins penned this ebook that focuses on two such escapes. The first demonstrated the will to survive and tell the world about what was happening in Nazi-controlled Poland with the mass deportation of Eastern European Jews. The second escape occurred with a revolt in which prisoners lived or died with nothing to lose. What was interesting is the introduction to the book; that is, the author notes that while the prisoners and survivors of camps like Auschwitz were experts due to their experiences, their reports were not always first-hand. This is because their access was limited. They could report on the hearsay of soldiers guarding them or the feedback from those who had access to other parts of the camp, but they were not full, primary experts. Regardless, their stories remind readers that preparation, not panic, is the key to their survival.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great read! By AJohn1776 As many of Jenkins's books, "Auschwitz Greatest Escape," is yet another historical book filled with great information. The Holocaust, one of the most horrible atrocities to be recorded in modern history has always brought me to near tears when I research about it. Jenkins produces a heavy-fact laden research that will have those who are buffs, novice, and all those who are in-between. I rather enjoyed reading through the book, while looking at the historical pictures, of both at-the-moment, and present-day photos, including escape maps that remind me of the Underground Railroad that helped the slaves escape slave masters and their patrols. What's unique, compared to some of the research I've put into this quagmire is that there are private letters and narrations in this book, detailing the harrowing escape of those imprisoned. This is another great book that everyone should pick up and read.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A stirring experience By Anindya Basu Escaping from a Nazi camp is probably one of the most fantastical and daredevil act one could think of. No action packed movie would be able to afford the kind of thrill and suspense that these stories give. Of course we should not forget that it happened in real life and there was a lot of danger and the risk of losing life associated with it.This ebook deals mainly with the escape of two prisoners from Nazi camps and of other survivors. In all the gruesome details about the Holocaust, this topic about escape of the prisoners seems to be a positive one. But as you read through the book and through the details, you realize there is something much more compelling than the element of heroism in the story. It is about ruthless determination to never give up in the face of grave opposition. But most importantly it is about the will to live against all odds – an essentially human trait. It is also probably the reason why the book stirs you up so thoroughly!

Between 1880 and 1914, more than four million Italians left Italy and came to America. Of these, nearly 100 families settled in a small town in Central New Jersey named Matawan. This book contains the true stories of why they came, how they lived and the legacy they left behind. Told by sons and daughters, these stories are their recollections of parents and grandparents who are now gone with only our memories to keep them alive. The stories trace these brave people and bring them to life. They worked, they loved and they made great sacrifices to start a new life in a strange country with a different language and unfamiliar customs. This book is an attempt to save the stories of those who came before, to bring them back to life for future generations who never met them and may not even know their names. Through the stories you can hear their laughter, see their tears, and feel their heartbreak and joy. You will follow them on the boats, witness them meeting their true loves, and accompany them to war on ships and in battlefields. Every family has stories that are passed down from one generation to another. Many are lost along the way. This book was written to ensure the stories of these courageous people live on and do not disappear into the decades.

A harmless English ex-pat retiree is strangled in his rural cottage. In this second of the Inspector Minogue series, Arthur Combs is found murdered, the life choked out of him by a rope around his neck and a knee between his shoulder-blades. The method is obvious, but the motive is far less evident. As an English expatriate retiree in Dublin, the decrepit seventy-three year old Combs lived a solitary existence with few friends, but no enemies. Or so it seems when Sergeant Minogue is assigned to the case. As the investigation gathers momentum, however, it is soon clear that this ‘terrible ordinary man’ is of extraordinary importance to British Intelligence. London’s MI5 Security Service is terrified about secrets Combs knew and threatened to reveal, secrets that could spark a major scandal and derail top-level talks between Britain and Ireland. When MI5 tries to put a lid on the Combs affair, they underestimate the tenacity of the unorthodox Minogue. Even if it means going up against the Prime Minister, Minogue is determined to discover what Britain’s spy masters are doing in Dublin. 'Dublin’s answer to Maigret - a handsomely written, dark journey into Irish politics. Brady is a master of the telling detail.’ - Kirkus Reviews (U.S.) 'A non-generic political novel rich in substance and raw with pain.’ - New York Times

Unholy Ground: An Inspector Matt Minogue Mystery (The Inspector Matt Minogue Series) (Volume 2), by John Brady

From Publishers Weekly John Brady deftly weaves a tale of espionage, political intrigue and detective work set against the background of Ireland's pre-Peace Accord troubles in Unholy Ground, a reissue of the second Matt Minogue mystery, in which the Dublin inspector investigates the murder of a retired British customs agent. When the canny hero determines that the dead man was actually a spy, a world of intrigue opens up the Brits are just as eager to conceal his activities as Minogue is to find his killer in this complex and gracefully written street-level procedural. Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information, Inc.

From Kirkus Reviews Dublin's answer to Maigret, Sergeant Matt Minogue (introduced in the provocative A Stone of the Heart, 1988), in trying to sort out the murder by strangling of a rambling tippler, 73-year-old Englishman Arthur Combs, finds himself in the middle of a WW II spy cover-up involving MI6. Anxious about incriminating bits that Combs may have left behind, the English send a man in to dog Minogue's investigation. Soon Combs's former contact, Ball, is murdered by Irish terrorists; Combs's secret data is retrieved from an out-to- pasture horse; and Minogue's simple murder case is overrun by nefarious British intelligence types who--with more murder on their minds--want to keep the lid on Combs's wartime activities and the dastardly lengths his superiors went to keep him at them. By the time Minogue pieces together Combs's story, several more have died; the British embassy is busy ferrying its wounded warriors back home; and Minogue is recommended for promotion. A handsomely written, dark journey into Irish politics and English duplicity. Brady is a master of the telling detail, and within the framework of the political novel, has created memorable characters, most especially the estimable Minogue. -- Copyright ©1991, Kirkus Associates, LP. About the Author A native of Dublin, John divides his time between Ireland and Canada, where he and his wife Hanna raise their family. Growing up in Ireland, with a mother from the west of Ireland and a father from Dublin, home was where talk and imagination and character were at to the core of life. Everyone had a story, a song, a joke. John continues to follow the lure of travel. rambling in Ireland’s Burren or Dublin's streets, or hill-walking in southern Austria. Trained as a teacher, he still goes by the axiom that only that which is useless, or can’t be taught, is irresistible.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Unholy ground By Clare O'Beara This is an excellent detective story set in Ireland during the late 1980s.Brady writes beautifully, so we absorb the lyricism of his language without realising it as we follow the murders and investigations. The dating of the books means that they are now part of the historical record of the island, charting the upswing of Ireland from recession and the progress of Anglo-Irish relations, the subject of this tale.An elderly and solitary man, Combs, has been killed in an apparent break-in to his cottage near Stepaside in the Dublin mountains. Garda Detective Matt Minogue discovers that the man had been strangled in a professional manner, and that makes him wonder why someone would want Combs silenced. The victim was British and with an Anglo-Irish border summit under way, it looks likely that Combs knew something that nobody wanted to emerge.Minogue, from the West of Ireland, is by no means perfect - a father who occasionally slopes off home early to his wife and temperamental children, a detective who escapes the squad room for a quiet cup in Bewley's Cafe. The work of detection is free of DNA evidence and information is stored on paper in Special Branch files. The British Embassy is involved in this story along with various intelligence agencies that Minogue would really rather not be dealing with at all at all. When he suggests tapping the Embassy phones he is told "Listen in on their phones is it? Sure we bought most of our bells and whistles from the British firms. You can be damn sure that they wouldn't be sending the equipment to us if they thought we could be using the stuff on their embassy here without them knowing about it." His work doesn't get any easier.

12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. Favorite Book of the Year By Book Boyfriend Blog Rush is a beautiful, unique, moving, heart-warming story that you won’t be able to set down. I was a little worried it was going to be angsty especially after telling a friend the book I was reading. Luckily she was wrong and got it confused with another book. Rush did have the potential for being a sad story with both characters having experience an acute loss, but it was actually funny in some places. At least I thought so and I know my humor and be a bit weird.Rush is about Noah Lake who was an extreme athlete who was blinded after a horrific cliff diving accident. Noah turned his love of adrenaline into a career that complemented both journalism with extreme sports taking him to all corners of the world, until an accident left him without his sight, his dreams gone, and nothing left to live for. Many told Noah he was lucky to be alive, but after extensive therapy to learn everything that he once knew how to do, he was left with no hope of ever being able to see again, angry, and bitter. After leaving rehab, he moved into his parent’s townhome in New York City and pushed all of his friends and family away. That was until Charlotte Conroy, entered his life as a live in assistant.Charlotte was a prodigy violinist who in her senior year at Julliard gets a call that would forever change her life. After her brother, Chris, died, Charlotte lost her music. Working two jobs and barely being able to pay rent in an apartment where she never had a moment alone, couldn’t sleep because of all the parties that went on every night, and sharing a bathroom with four other people, Charlotte needed a change and she was willing to take a chance at a new job and put up with her new angry employer.Noah didn’t make it easy for Charlotte, but it didn’t take him long to slowly start to be drawn to her. Charlotte was always polite, but it was the beautiful music she made when she practiced each day that compelled Noah to come out of his shell. She was one of the few who wouldn’t back down from him even though she was considerate and innocent with no filter. Most of the book was from Charlotte’s point of view, but it was the chapters that were from Noah’s point of view that I loved. The author wrote his point of view perfectly and gave us great insight into his world and dreams. They were the ones that affected me the most.Charlotte was easy to love. Even though she was experiencing her own heartache over her brother’s death and a losing her boyfriend she continued to be strong and it was easy for her to understand why Noah was the angry man that he was. Charlotte didn’t feel any pity for him, she only wanted to help him learn to live his life again. I loved that she wanted to make him smile and how easily she accepted and actually loved things about his blindness that I think would many others uneasy. It endeared me to her all the more.Noah had me laughing from the beginning of his meeting with Charlotte and his rudeness, but my heart wanted to lurch from my chest learning all the things that he wanted and knew he’d never see again. Underneath his rudeness and the a$$hole persona was a very sweet, fun loving guy.I absolutely loved this book. The angst was very short and I wouldn’t even call it angst. We know it can’t always be all sunshine and rainbows in the story. The characters were mature and didn’t fall into the standard annoying flaws that we find in most books. I loved how the problems that they had were quickly rectified and talked about. The ending was truly beautiful and made the book all the more heart-warming. I was left happy and teary eyed. This is the first book that I’ve read by Emma Scott, but after reading Rush I look forwarding to reading her other works. I loved watching Noah and Charlotte heal each other, bring each other back to life, and fall in love.Rush is in the City Lights series. All books in the series can be read as standalones.

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Wow!!! Beautiful story & amazing writing!!! By Maria's Book Blog Wow. Where do I even start? This was my first time reading a book by Emma Scott so I wasn't sure what to expect. The synopsis definitely intrigued me, so when I was given the opportunity to read & review it I jumped at the chance. When I think of RUSH and how I ultimately feel about it, only one word comes to mind. Beautiful. Emma's ability to weave words together and paint such a clear picture of events, people, and emotions is just mesmorizing. The character development is on point, the story flows seamlessly from one scene to the next, and the execution of it all was just perfection.Within the first couple of pages it became strikingly clear that RUSH was by far in a league of it's own. Emma's attention to detail and incredible writing style is what kept me invested in the story of Charlotte and Noah, our broken protagonists struggling to overcome their own personal tragedies, and readapt to life.Their story is unique and utterly heartwarming. I found myself experiencing the highs and lows of their journey as if they were my own, and completely losing track of time as I dove further and further into their story.Without a doubt, I would HIGHLY recommend this one. If you're in the mood for an emotional, uplifting HEA romance then look no further! RUSH is definitely a story that will stick with you long after you've finished reading.

Ok where to start... well I was gifted an ARC by lovely Emma and I immediately read it due to the description alone. If you love HEA novels then this is perfect for you! It was a roller coaster!!!The outcome will have you wondering how in the hell have I not read anything else by Emma. That's exactly how I felt. & My top priority is to read book 1 & 2 in this series..But dont worry, if you're like me. Then you wont be lost. These are stand alones!
