Wilderness Reflections is a collection of short stories that grew out of a love for both the words of the Bible and adventures in the outdoors. Men’s souls seem to be in conflict between the demands of their everyday lives and their recreational pursuits. Sunday church time can seem to be more about duty than community, and the call of the wild can all too often reach into the pews and distract us from our heavenly goals—but the two need not be separated. This book is for those who can find evidence of God’s teaching not in the confines of a building but in the vastness of the wilderness. These stories ultimately reflect my personal journey from only having church on Sundays to having it when I venture afield any day of the week. I’ve heard other hunters refer to this as “the church of the woods.” It is in this church that I find meaning and seek to clarify the muddle of everyday life. The results have, in part, been captured here, and while the lessons inside may ultimately be meaningful only to the author; the telling may benefit others as well. Jeff Vordermark is a US Army veteran with a passion for God’s Word. An outdoorsman at heart, he writes recreationally while teaching fellow hunters and fishermen and leading an “outfitter” ministry. In pursuing Scriptural truths he has learned the season is always open and there are no limits in place.

I too very much enjoyed my time in the woods camping and hiking with my son and friends. I gave up hunting many years ago after my hunting partner passed away in 1999 a few days short of 2000. A new outdoors chapter is beginning in my life with my son and his twin Boyz Nathan and Jamie now 10 years old. We've been to a few boy scouts camps, some fishing and are planning some hiking excursions.I have a brother in my small group that's still hunting and I'm sure he'll enjoy your bookClint

For anyone who enjoys the outdoors the book gives you a feel that you are with Jeff in the field. The book is a good reminder that God is the creator and sustains our planet. Jeff does a good job of demonstrating that we can learn much about God in the wilderness and not just in church. Highly recommend the book!

McCollum Reflections provides a superb reading experience not only for those interested in hunting and fishing, but also for those who recognize the natural beauty God gave us and how we can better relate to it. I found in the short, but meaningful chapters a devotional opportunity to start the day in a most pleasant an uplifting way.
