Land This is an important book on how we have socially constructed childhood from the fifteenth to the eighteen century in visual culture (paintings, drawings, sculpture). A worthy addition (vol. 18) to Routledge's The Body, Gender and Culture series, the scholarly essays are not only perceptive and informative, they are well-written.
