Leopold Classic Library is delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive collection. As part of our on-going commitment to delivering value to the reader, we have also provided you with a link to a website, where you may download a digital version of this work for free. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. Whilst the books in this collection have not been hand curated, an aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature. As a result of this book being first published many decades ago, it may have occasional imperfections. These imperfections may include poor picture quality, blurred or missing text. While some of these imperfections may have appeared in the original work, others may have resulted from the scanning process that has been applied. However, our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. While some publishers have applied optical character recognition (OCR), this approach has its own drawbacks, which include formatting errors, misspelt words, or the presence of inappropriate characters. Our philosophy has been guided by a desire to provide the reader with an experience that is as close as possible to ownership of the original work. We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful classic book, and that the occasional imperfection that it might contain will not detract from the experience.

It is almost as though someone with a speech impediment dictated into a transcriber and then the book was published without editing. Just about every page had wrong spellings as well as new paragraphs in the middle of sentences. I did read it in its entirety because I was looking for the actual history and I am trusting that was factual.

Ram Rajya. The Perfect Land. But perfection has a price. He paid that price.

3400 BCE. INDIA

Ayodhya is weakened by divisions. A terrible war has taken its toll. The damage runs deep. The demon King of Lanka, Raavan, does not impose his rule on the defeated. He, instead, imposes his trade. Money is sucked out of the empire. The Sapt Sindhu people descend into poverty, despondency and corruption. They cry for a leader to lead them out of the morass. Little do they appreciate that the leader is among them. One whom they know. A tortured and ostracised prince. A prince they tried to break. A prince called Ram.

He loves his country, even when his countrymen torment him. He stands alone for the law. His band of brothers, his Sita, and he, against the darkness of chaos.

Will Ram rise above the taint that others heap on him? Will his love for Sita sustain him through his struggle? Will he defeat the demon Lord Raavan who destroyed his childhood? Will he fulfil the destiny of the Vishnu?

Begin an epic journey with Amish’s latest: the Ram Chandra Series.

7 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Amish does it once again! By The Graahak Well, I read this from a (preview) copy I got from a "friend". And it made an excellent read! As we all know it is a retelling of Ramayana, so unlike the life of Shiva almost all of us are familiar with the life of Rama. This is one reason there are fewer twists and climaxes in this book, because we already have an idea(or can easily guess) what is going to happen. But Amish has tried and has tried very well! The language of the book is very similar to that of The Shiva Trilogy: simple yet beautifully touching, without getting too cheesy! I love how the author has shown the relationships between people and their weaknesses. It was able to move an atheist like me. Another thing different from the Shiva Trilogy is the fact that unlike the former, in SOI Amish gives a lot of importance to what we can term as " divine will/intervention ", not everything is explained by logic or science in this book. Nevertheless, the central theme and message is the same, man can become " godlike" through his good deeds and selflessness. Also, a warning if you are expecting too much from this book, remember it's going to be a series and all the characters are not introduced as of yet. It is about the early part of Lord Ram's life, right from his birth. In conclusion, yes, this book is a must read for every Indian. But it (at some level) lacks the natural flow of The Immortals of Meluha, which hence still remains Amish's magnum opus.Overall verdict:7.5/10 Overall,6/10 for voracious readers who've read too much to be pleased8/10 for diehard Amish fans( didn't make me get over his earlier books :P)8/10 for young readers, no textbook will teach you about why he became 'He' better than this book.100/10 for bhagat fans (please, please, just please read this! Compared to bhagat this is gold, nay, platinum!)Reading stats: Took me 3.5 days, it's an easy read. Go for it, 250/ is a good price for it. If it doesn't move you or inspire you, it will not fail to entertain you.

A one time read and page turner with right amount of drama and action By Shree Janani http://bookandink.weebly.com/the-book/scion-of-ikshvaku-by-amish-tripathi-reviewAfter ‘humanizing’ Lord Shiva, writer Amish has taken upon re-telling Lord Ram and his life story. Scion of Ikshvaku is Amish’s fictionalized version of Ramayana, the epic that has been interpreted and narrated by countless people. This book has been recorded as one of the most extensively marketed books with the book trailer going viral, pre-orders jumping and a lot of digital contests. Naturally, the strategic marketing resulted in people expecting a magic from Amish. Sadly, this book failed to match the level of magic that the Shiva trilogy managed to create. That might be because Ram’s character isn’t as dynamic as Shiva’s.Read on ONLY if you have read the book. /*this review contains spoilers hereinafter*/CharacterizationUnlike Lord Shiva, who got a radical makeover in Amish’s previous books, Lord Ram or Emperor Ram is more or less the much ethical and law abiding man from the actual Ramayana. Sita’s characterization, on the other hand is a different story. She is this strong spear wielding administrator unlike mellow Sita from the actual Ramayana. The other characters, Laxman, Bharath, Kaikeyi and Manthra have all been given a rather refreshing twist which had a huge impact on the story line. Ravana, as of now, has also been unaltered and remains the loathed evil demon. I don’t exactly trust Amish to let that be in the subsequent books. It is evident that he has done a lot of research about Ramayana, its protagonists, the sequence of events and the underlying philosophy. To revamp almost all the characters, such research is vital. One thing that I loved utterly was that, Amish stripped all the characters of their supernatural element, like Ravana having 9 heads or Ram’s birth - making the story a realistic and natural read. PlotLike the characterization, the plot has also been revamped, re-adapted, re-engineered (or whatever re-word you know of) from the original Ramayana leaving a majority of readers (me included) in a state of shock. I was stunned with the liberties that the writer took adapting the Nirbhaya incident and Darupati’s Swayamvar into Ram’s tale. More than anything, one school of thought that pushed the envelope for me is where the nobility of Ayodhya and Emperor Dashrath hate Ram as his very birth was the reason Dashrath lost the battle against the evil Ravan. In a way that made me love Ram a bit more than I already do.The plot line so far was laced with right amount of twists and turns. So far so good, but I’m definitely curious about what is to come, for the crux of Ramayana is yet to be narrated.WritingLet’s face it. Amish is no literary genius, but then he created a cult following with Shiva trilogy and revived the present generation’s almost extinct interest in mythology. His simplistic writing aided the books in reaching even the people who don’t read books much. His writing has come a long way from being sober to being narrative (specifically in this book). To re-engineer and gave a face-lift of sorts to a much read tale, one needs to have guts and be unapologetic about it. It is evident that Amish fits that bill perfectly.RATING:PLOT : 8/10NARRATION: 6/10 (I found the philosophical part on leadership and laws to be a bit repetitive)CHARACTERIZATION: 9/10 (Especially for Sita’s character!)BOREDOM QUOTIENT: 3/10 (The lower the better)OVERALL RATING: 7/10

6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. If you have nothing better to do By Sanjoy Amish writes well but completely directionless. One would have liked him to explore the emotions, passions, drama, philosophy of the Original Classic that we love, rather than make up a completely different story ! Examples - Ram despised by Dasarath as a kid?!; Manthara - a rich merchant who 'bribes' Kaikeyi?!!; Tadaka - a docile tribeswoman chieftain who obeys Ram, and goes into hiding ?!!!; Sita swayamvar has the same rules as Arjun-Draupadi swayamvar ?!!Ram seeks a 14 year banishment voluntarily !!!! Dasarath announces that willingly !!!!! Sita's worldview of Ram-Rajya is pinched from the movie "Divergent"!!! … What next ?Even if one were to digest a new storyline (nowhere nearly dramatic as the Original Classic - my opinion), the drama buildup in this plot is weak, in most cases, after the first 5 chapters. A weak drama buildup in Sita's swayamvar with Raavan, Ram, Kumbhakarna present, weak drama in the Tadaka attack, no mention of Shravan Kumar episode, hurriedly put together a weak attempt at Surpanakha disfiguration drama. Why miss out on Agastya Muni, Atri-Anasuya, Shravan Kumar episodes- so much of potential; and clutter it up with Somras, Meluha, Pariha nonsense. Not looking forward to the second book of "Nonsense disguised as Ramayan".Amish - do us a favour and stop calling it the Ram Chandra series and call it by some other (Meluha-Naga-Pariha or some other nonsense) name.

Great Alpha series By momilp Despair and Destiny is another great addition to the Highland Wolf Clan series and a very satisfactory end to several of the subplots in the main story.SPOILER ALERT from this point on!The book starts with a big bang while we follow Rebecca's abduction and rescue. She was the victim of a brutal attack and Jacob is devastated, but his friends help him overcome what could be his downfall. Fergie and Angel must deal with Angel's good intent to restore him whole, and a Alpha again which could destroy the Highland clan. It is now Fergie's right to challenge Cam and that is heartbreaking for both of them. Meanwhile, Cam's romantic side emerges as he tries to help Chastity come to terms with the fact that she is bonded to a millionaire. We also find out what happens to Logan and Tina, and his patience and love for her makes for the sweetest chapter in this book where tender moments abound. Finally, Ms. Michaels reveals what the future has in store for the two clans and, without spoiling it furthermore, I loved how everything worked out at the end. I'm now very much looking forward to read Grant and Shelly's story. As usual, kudos to Ms. Michaels for creating a wonderful world and awesome characters who live, love, and fight with great passion.

This book starts with everyone finding out she is missing. So much happens in this book. We meet a few new characters, changes in the pack, and how life is progressing for our familiar characters.Once I started th book I couldn't put it down. Ava's writing style keeps you captivated where you have to keep reading to find out what happens next and how the story ends. It is well written and easy to read. I will be anxiously waiting for the next book.I recommend this book/series to those who enjoy paranormal romance/werewolves/wolf shifters. I highly recommend reading them in order so you understand what's going on.

I can't choose. When a wolf's mate, a strong witch, it kidnapped and there isn't many leads, what I'd you do?When a handicap wolf, who in in line to be alpha, is healed how does he get him pack back from the alpha in charge? How will a Alpha she wolf deal with city life when all she has ever known is an abusive pack life? This is a wonderful continuation for this series and I am looking forward to Book 5.

Told through the first person narrative of Jason Murdoch The Wild Type invites readers with an open mind, a peculiar taste for aesthetics, imagination, and language. For Jason Murdoch satisfaction has always been elusive. Bianka suffers from a bad case of restlessness, bored and boggled with useless feelings, her hunger for an outlet takes precedent. At first with seemingly not so innocent pastimes, catching the occasional glimpse into the lives of more wayward peers. But, soon enough her curiosity and the claws of fate get the best of her. Leading her into the life of Jason Murdoch with the murkiness of a soft dream, the answer he was seeking. . .until the dreaded nightmare of reality ensnares them both in a lethal trap. . . Beautiful, suggestive and disturbing, heightened with a painful brand of realism. The work of Devon West explores obscurity in emotions, unhealthy obsessions, the perception of time; manias and mental paralysis. Isolation, the reoccurring nightmare of existence coupled with the terror of sudden insight. Merging the present with the past and the uncertainty of the future in, the spiral of life, death, pleasure and pain; preserving the illusions, lying in between. The subjects are those hidden in the apparent ordinary walks of life; perverse and haunting, not allowing their story to be left untold. The text does not correspond to typical genre fiction, although it contains certain elements of ‘classic horror’. Recommended for adult readers.

The novel doesn't fall under my By Shannon I was drawn into the story fast with the choice in words, the imagery and the strange circumstances of this young man's life. His choices are unusual, and although unrelatable for me, I was intrigued and found myself reading faster to find out how his responses would satisfy him. The novel doesn't fall under my usual genre, and I still found myself engulfed in Devon West's mastery and art of description. Excellent style and plotline. Kept me coming back for more.

Japanese art is of fundamental importance for the development of modern art in Europe. Nearly all of the great nineteenth-century masters―from Edgar Degas, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh to Pierre Bonnard, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Édouard Vuillard―embraced the charm of Japanese pictorial motifs and stylistic devices, developing them in their own work. Even Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso expressed enduring interest in Japan well into the twentieth century. Monet, Gauguin, Van Gogh … Japanese Inspirations explores the most fascinating chapters of French art in the second half of the nineteenth century, in the phenomenon known as Japonisme. The catalogue and the exhibition it accompanies focus on the period between 1860 and 1910, the heyday of the craze for Japanese art in France. Alongside paintings and prints by artists active in France such as Paul Gauguin, Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet, the volume showcases an extensive selection of Japanese color woodcut prints by Utagawa Hiroshige, Katsushika Hokusai, Kitagawa Utamaro and others. Japanese artifacts are likewise juxtaposed with works by French artists such as Félix Bracquemond, Jean Carriès and Émile Gallé, inspiring a dialogue between works rarely considered in tandem. Featuring essays by well-known authors as well as younger scholars, this comprehensively illustrated catalogue sheds light on the most important aspects of this formative epoch and the productive exploration of Japan embarked upon by artists living and working in France.
