A mini-prequel to Pressed Pennies, Manchester introduces the characters of Abby and Rick as childhood sweethearts enjoying a 70's style summer on Wilbur Avenue -- out of the house after breakfast and home when the street lights come on. Manchester captures all the joy and adventure of summer vacation while acknowledging the growing tensions of family and impending adulthood. The chapter dedicated to the kids' full day at Lincoln Park, described in all its hey-day glory, is worth the purchase price of this charmer.

I've been fortunate to read some of them prior to them being published, as he's been a friend for a very long time. I would recommend all of his stories, but I have to say "The Rocking Chair" has always been my favorite!Definitely read Steve's work. You will never be disappointed.
