About the Author WILLEM LANGE has worked as an Adirondack guide, a preacher, a bartender, a construction laborer, a cab driver, a bob-sled run announcer, a bookkeeper, a ranch hand, a high-school English teacher, a carpenter, a contractor, and from 1968 to 1972 as director of Dartmouth College’s Outward Bound Center. For more than thirty years he has been writing a weekly column, A Yankee Notebook, which appears in newspapers all over New England. He is a regular commentator on Vermont Public Television and Vermont Public Radio, and is the host of New Hampshire Public Television’s award-winning series Windows to the Wild.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. For those fortunate enough to have met Will By Shirley Quinn Willem Lange is one of New England's best-kept secrets. He has lived a long, worthwhile life in which he has worked many interesting jobs, met many interesting characters, and taken on the heart and soul of the granite in these hills, of which he writes from long experience on the trails. For those fortunate enough to have met Will, the words in this volume are a natural extension of the knowledge and wisdom interwoven with a Yankee sense of humor that will have you searching for more of what he has to say about the lore of New England and its people.
