Quantum Tango, a Soul Searcher's Guide to the Galaxy is a bit of tango-istic magical realism. You don't need to know a thing about tango to enjoy the journey around the galaxy and the heart and the characters, especially Drs. Ocaramia & Nureyev, specialized therapists in treating TAD (Tango Anxiety Disorder). “In this Zen koan of a novella, Camille Cusumano explores the ineffable, the Tango Moment. Cusumano uses her words and phrases with the flamboyant precision of the accomplished tanguera she is, and just as the quest for the sublime Tango Moment keeps us returning again and again to the dance floor, you will want to read this enchanting book again and again.” —Jamie Rose, actor, acting coach, author of Shut Up and Dance! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Beautiful Agony By Jack Deveny As in all her books on tango, Camille Cusumano presents the reader with a glorious battle. Who will win, the earth or the sky? The book is such a wonderful blend of the ephemeral and the earthy, leading to an irony that pinpoints all of life.As she states early on, this struggle can be felt and witnessed in any activity that is pursued with passion, but somehow is much more painful and poignant in Argentine tango. The author takes us through a journey at once dramatic and comic. Her lovely sense of humor is not wasted, especially since it is so needed when the ego clashes with the sublime. Her focus is always on the blessed Tango Moment, that instant when the bounds of earth are loosened and the soul is momentarily allowed to fly free. All this is majestic, but as in any High Art, the ego is desperate to invade. Cusumano not only speaks dearly and reverently of her own Tango Moments, but of the struggle of others to achieve this bliss. Gifted as she is in dance and free spiritedness, she's more than able to aide those who seek the sacred moment. She talks in a warm and understanding voice of those who seek her counsel as they slog through the ego debris which compromises so many tango parties, referred to as milongas. As a tango dancer myself, I can easily identify with the many emotions that swirl wildly at all milongas. I've seen everything from breathless grace to behavior that could only be called juvenile. The ego demons would not be entwining themselves to the dancers so tightly were it not for the fact that to achieve tango grace is an extremely difficult task, made much more painful by the obvious fact that the "Self" is on open display. This can and does make humans insane. One may experience a dance so powerful with a partner that you could willingly dissolve into oblivion. You could then encounter that same partner on another occasion and feel nothing at all. Why does this happen? No one knows. But Ms.Cusumano fully realizes that the solution to this irony can only be found in surrender. Not the surrender of submission, but with open eyes to jump from the cliff and pray that another rescues you. Tango is a woman. She is the "Carmen" of the dance floor. If you seek to possess her, like Don Julio, you will only face tragedy. But..if you let her run freely, as the Toreador did, she will fall into your arms.God, and tango, only knows what revelations Cusumano will bring to us next in her quest for the human heart. I plan on being the first in line.Jack Deveny

Spectacular specimens: Albertus Seba's unrivaled catalog of animals, insects and plants   The Cabinet of Natural Curiosities is one of the 18th century’s greatest natural history achievements and remains one of the most prized natural history books of all time. Though scientists of his era often collected natural specimens for research purposes, Amsterdam-based pharmacist Albertus Seba (1665–1736) was unrivaled in his passion. His amazing collection of animals, plants and insects from all around the world gained international fame during his lifetime. In 1731, after decades of collecting, Seba commissioned careful and often scenic illustrations of every specimen. With these meticulous drawings, he arranged for the publication of a four-volume catalog, covering the entire collection from strange and exotic plants to snakes, frogs, crocodiles, shellfish, corals, birds, and butterflies, as well as now extinct creatures. This reproduction is taken from a rare, hand-colored original. The introduction supplies background information about the fascinating tradition of natural collections to which Seba’s curiosities belonged.   Text in English, French, and German

Can't wait to read the next one By JPE This book is not only gracefully educational, but also terrifically funny. This is my first book from the author, and I am looking forward to reading his other pieces. Bravo!

Not to mention the "fun times" helmsmen have while standing bridge watch. I can tell by the narration the the author has first hand knowledge of the goings on onboard ship. This is a good read for anyone. If you're having some trouble with the USN terminology, snuggle up to a sailor, he/she will translate!!

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Heart stopping By Y Bound By LiesAnswers that's what I wanted and needed from this book after the epic cliffhanger. How do twin brothers end up on opposite sides of the law. Then both fall for the same girl. The girl that somehow stumbled into a world she knew nothing about, but somehow was bound there. I loved the roller coaster ride you never knew what was coming next. The angst kept me biting my nails. I think a certain author owes me a manicure.“Very true. I plan to make amends, but it’ll take some time for them to let me back in, I think.” His sad eyes look at me and beg for forgiveness. “In time,” I whisper to him. “In time,” he repeats. But I'll keep this short because I don't like spoilers. My heart stopped and started then stopped agin. My emotions where all over this place. My heart broke and then was fixed. You won't be disappointed. I got my answers, and this story ended perfectly and there's not much I can say without spoiling it. Relationships where tested, friendships where tested, and loyalty was questioned. Bonds formed and some broken. What did I expect it's the mafia after all.

She has written another emotional and suspenseful conclusion to an incredible story. I was anxiously waiting for this book, and it was everything I had hoped it would be! Rebecca writes amazing novels with well developed, complex characters that pull on your heart strings. I absolutely love that I can always count on her to make me feel every emotion her characters go through. Alex, Emilia, and Sam sent me on a roller coaster ride of emotions! This is definitely a MUST read!"Danger. Death. All of it hangs in the air around me, except I'm not afraid of dying. I'm afraid to live without Alex." ~EmiliaBound By Lies begins amidst the chaos of gunfire. Emilia, desperate to get to Alex as he lies bleeding out on the tile floor; while Sam is attempting to pull her to safety. For Alex, Sam, and Emilia...everything changes in those moments. Alex is fighting for a life he never knew he wanted by betraying the only family he has. Emilia is trying to hold on to the only man that she has ever loved while Sam is attempting to take down the monster that altered his life and save the brother he lost many years ago. When all is said and done, Emilia is left heart broken. With Sam by her side, Emilia must face her biggest and most unexpected challenge yet. Sam knows that her heart belongs to Alex, but he is hoping that with time, Emilia will not only learn to trust him...but love him as well. With the threat of danger lurking around every corner, life for Sam and Emilia is not a guarantee. In order to be free to move on, together they must bring down the mastermind of the Estrada drug cartel."Alex was my love-dark and dangerous. But Sam is now my rock-my safe place." ~EmiliaI loved this two book series! I love stories that have me hanging on the edge of my seat grasping onto every word. I read this book in one sitting because I could not put it down! It was emotional, heart breaking, and riddled with twists. Everything Rebecca Shea writes is amazing. I would highly recommend ALL of her books...especially this one!

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. BRILLIANT.....Rebecca's Best Series yet!!! By Happy Mom of 2 Thank goodness Rebecca did not make us wait a long time between Broken by Lies and Bound by Lies......#SaveAlex became the common mantra of her fans. Doubt twisting and turning in our minds.....will she #SAVEALEX or will we be left to grieve right along side Emilia.LOVED LOVED LOVED this book! This roller coaster ride was full throttle through out! I devoured this book in the matter of hours. COULD NOT put it down....Hell I didn't want to put it down. You get pulled into the story...holding your breath as the story unfolds, hoping all the while that you will get your wish. Will Emilia's love for Alex be enough? You could sympathize with her situation and the tough choices she was facing. Would she make the right choices, Would things turn out okay for her? Would she have the life she dreamed of with Alex or would she find comfort in Sam in his absence. This review is hard to write as I try to keep my reviews spoiler free. Do yourself a favor....if you haven't read Broken By Lies....go #1click it NOW! If you have, then you MUST #1click Bound By Lies and see for yourself how the story unfolds. You will not be disappointed. I have been a fan of Rebecca's story telling since the beginning but I do believe that this series by far is her best work yet! Keep them coming Rebecca!

The authors knew their subjects well and their characters even better. I felt like I was immersed in the characters’ worlds. I couldn’t put the book down.In Midwife…to Mum! there is Ally and Dr Flynn. These two personify the feel-good story. Yes, there is a roller coaster of emotion going on here and I needed the tissues, but I recommend the read. The growth of these characters is great and not to be missed. The writing is tight and the romance fantastic. If you’re looking for a good read that’s guaranteed to bring a smile, then this might be the book for you.

NOW AN EBOOK FOR THE FIRST TIMEFor fifty years and more than two thousand shows, the Grateful Dead have been earning the "deadication" of more than a million fans. Along the way, Deadheads have built an original and authentic American subculture, with vivid jargon and rich love, and its own legends, myths, and spirituality.Skeleton Key: A Dictionary for Deadheads is the first map of what Jerry Garcia calls "the Grateful Dead outback," as seen through the eyes of the faithful, friends, and family, including Bill Walton, Elvis Costello, Tipper Gore, Al Franken, Bob Bralove, Dick Latvala, Blair Jackson, David Gans, Bruce Hornsby, Rob Wasserman, and Robert Hunter. Skeleton Key puts you on the Merry Pranksters' bus behind the real Cowboy Neal, uncovers the origins of Cherry Garcia, follows the dancing bear on its trip from psychedelic artifact to trademarked icon, and unlocks the Dead's own tape vault.Informative reading for the new fan or the most grizzled "tourhead," Skeleton Key shines throughout with Deadheads' own stories, wit, insiders' knowledge, sincere appreciation of the music of the "band beyond description," and the diverse and soulful culture it inspires.

From Library Journal dead-icated followers. While many picture a Deadhead as a scruffy youth in a tie-dyed T-shirt who drives a wildly painted bus and follows the Dead from concert to concert, Deadheads form a unique subculture that includes people of all ages and from all walks of life. In attempting to capture a culture that mythologist Joseph Campbell called "the most recently developed tribe on the planet," this book includes album reviews, band member profiles, and Internet addresses. But best of all, it captures the Deadheads' rich jargon-from crispy, the ick, and jonesin to rezzie, spacedancing, the Zone, and many more. Essential for larger public libraries, music collections, and any venue where Deadheads park their bus. From Booklist One of the most long-standing subcultures in America today is that of the Deadheads--the fans and followers (literally) of the perdurable 1960s San Francisco rock band the Grateful Dead. Over the years, an impressive number of cottage industries--including a newsletter, books, magazines, and a thriving trade in audio and video performance tapes--has sprung up to serve this subculture. Now comes the dictionary of the Dead, in which we learn, for example, about "energy balls," a recreational form of glowing energy that "psychedelically sensitized Heads" play with at concerts as more mundane souls might with beach balls. Besides such curious phenomena, the dictionary includes tiny biographies of significant members of the Dead community and technical entries such as one for MIDI (musical instrument digital interface). And that's the beauty of the book; indeed, of the whole Deadhead thing--you're just as likely to be talking advanced electronics and music as to be tossing pure energy back and forth. Not just informative, this book's a great trip. Mike Tribby

The Author's Perspective By A Customer Being one of the book's authors, I can hardly claim a detached perspective (grin), but I did want to say a few words about Skeleton Key so amazon.com readers could get a clearer picture of the book.Skeleton Key: A Dictionary for Deadheads is the first in-depth map of the Deadhead subculture, the global community of folks who love the music of the Dead and the experience of Dead shows, and build community with others who feel the same way.I am very grateful that my co-author and I got to record so much of the humor, lore, depth, and passion of our community before the Grateful Dead ceased to exist. In writing this book, we interviewed hundreds of Heads - at shows and online - and we tried to undo a lot of the shallow stereotyping of Deadheads promulgated by lazy journalists by depicting as broad a spectrum of Heads as possible. You're welcome to read excerpts from Skeleton Key by following the link from my home page at [...]Take care!
