Chase Fans of historical "what if" fiction (such as Philip K. Dick's stunning "The Man in the High Castle"), will find "The Bastard" just as brilliant. Wilson spins a tale of international intrigue, which will keep the reader guessing and turning pages until the very last sentence. You might even learn a thing or two about fifteenth century English politics along the way. The story is tight, the dialogue is crisp, and the characters are memorable. I am already looking forward to the next book in the series!

By James F Schulte What I enjoyed about the Bastard of Glastonbury was learning a bit more about the history of the time. All of the pieces fit together, and Wilson does a good job from the first chapter of involving the reader. When i was finished, I found myself checking Wiki to compare the story to what historians generally say.For those who don't know the central role of the monasteries in the history of England, this is a good intro.I am not a reader who finds it easy to imagine the details of a novel. Yet this book was especially easy to picture. I think that's a sign of a good writer and a born teacher.Well worth the time.
