Jay is a homeless man who used to have a pretty good life before he ended up on the streets, but then he becomes a recipient of a golden ticket; to borrow a line from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in which Charlie Bucket finds this literal ticket to fame and fortune from within a chocolate bar and runs home exuberantly.I’m reminded of a scene in an episode of Family Guy when a homeless man asks Peter if he can spare some change and Peter says he “put hope in there”. Jay must have figured out that the ticket was some kind of omen because that was when he decided it was time to turn his life around, and he does. Teaching a man to fish is always the better option, as they say.Short and sweet in a way (sorry another cliché) but a good little short story with a nice lesson involved about doing right in life and paying it forward.
