I couldn't forge a connection to the story or it's characters. The beginning of the book reads as if it's a continuation of another book which at first seemed weird since it's book #1 in its series. After checking the author's GR page, I discovered that it is I spin off of a previous series. Nonetheless as an author you can't just assume that your audience has read you entire catalog of work, and not properly introduce them to the characters and the settings with a brief history or recap. You can't just assume your audience will understand your acronyms/initials, make all the necessary connections between characters, and magical know your characters history. The more I read the more frustrated I became and then I realized its Friday night and the last thing I need is frustration.

Hot start to the series By Artfullee 3.5 starsRocky Ride is the first book in the Thompson and Sons series, a spin off of the Six Pack Ranch books, and the first book I have read by this author. Even though Anna and Mitch have made appearances in other books, this can be read as a standalone, although it has made me curious to go back and read more about this family.On the outside Anna and Mitch are opposites, she is a RCMP officer, dedicated to her job and having a career in law enforcement. He is one of the town's bad boys, with a reputation to match the tough exterior. When these two get together, sparks fly in their clandestine encounters, passion running at an all time high, each totally focused on the other in those moments. To Anna, these encounters are just that; hot, satisfying sex with no long term commitment or attachment. To Mitch they are becoming only a taste of what he wants long term, and when he decides to ask Anna for more he is unsure of her reaction.This books jumps right in to the steamy, unadulterated passion these two share. They really heat up the page when they are together, and I did feel the chemistry between Anna and Mitch. I felt the urgency in their lust for each other but I felt I missed out on complete connection to their emotions. I wanted to know a bit more of the backstory of each of the characters so I could invest fully in their romance. Having said that, I liked the way Anna came into her own by looking past the exterior and standing up for Mitch when the town's prejudices and uninformed judgments tried to disrupt their relationship. Anna is one smart woman, only too aware of the harm narrow mindedness can cause, and when she sets her mind on a more permanent relationship with Mitch, she handles the troublemaker with smarts and shrewdness. It was also refreshing to have the male want 'more' and Mitch's list of fantasies were romantic and heartfelt. I really liked the way he set out to win Anna's heart, gain her trust and forge a committed relationship.Overall I enjoyed this book and will be reading the next in the series

Anna’s increasingly passionate desires could endanger her very civilized career and Mitch wants more than their secret sexual escapades – he wants her heart. Will they both get burned?This fast paced and smooth flowing plot gets the adrenaline flowing with some red hot mind-blowing passion and some intrigue. The author describes the story in well written scenes and details that capture the imagination and draws the reader deeper into the story and a co-worker with questionable motives adds some drama and suspense to the story. The characters are strong, compelling, easily related to and draw the reader deeper into the story with their sexual exploits and relationship drama.The attraction between Mitch and Anna is super hot and burns up the pages and their frequent and increasingly passionate sex scenes scorch the reader with their fiery intensity. As the couple explore their sexual desires they engage in a little bdsm, spanking and voyeurism that really spices things up. The relationship is slow to build due to Anna’s worry over letting go, but as she discovers her sensual nature, it gets harder for to deny Mitch’s desire for more.Anna’s job as quite a bit of drama to the story, not only because her increasing sexual cravings for Mitch causes some inappropriate public displays but because there is a co-worker who is sure that Mitch is bad news.Appearances can be deceiving and you should never judge a book by its cover… well in the case of this one, you should because let’s face it you don’t want to miss out on this enticing and sexy story. I mean what’s not like about tattooed, motorcycle riding hotties.
