About the Author Kader Abdolah is the pen name of Hossein Sadjadi Ghaemmaghami Farahani. Kennedy "The King" by Kader Abdolah is the fictionalized account of a Persian king in the nineteenth century trying to guide his country between the Russian and British Empires without losing sovereignty or control. The king's story is told in a very engaging way, but with the cruelties and violence germane to the story shown in all their horror. This is a wonderful story, and a very talented author.

Perfect travel reading, not too demanding but still commands your interest. An interesting insight into the history of Iran, England and Russia. Do not expect historical accuracy but it does give you a sense of those times. Many thanks to the author.

This book sucks you in to the world of mid nineteenth century Persian history. One sees the Great Game between Russia, Britain, and France played out in telegraph wires and railroad lines. This book is a wonder.
