24 of 28 people found the following review helpful. Great idea, sub-par execution. By Amazon Customer At 20% of the way through the book, I found 5 errors in grammar and syntax. I actually returned the book for a refund because I found more than that by 33%.I don't know Mr. Hendricks, and he gives no reason to believe a word that he's saying. He doesn't introduce himself or talk about his qualifications. There are no references (that I saw). Assuming the information is correct (and I'm sure he at least thinks it is), it's not explained well enough. Hendricks assumes that you know quite a bit, and moves from one proposition to the next without much explanation or elaboration.If he'd had an editor and beta readers to interact with the text and bring up questions that someone without any background in Quantum Physics or science would want to ask, then this could be an excellent resource. It would probably be another 100 pages, however, but I bet it would be worth more than the $2.99 asking price.

12 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Utterly un-edited, thus hard to read By Lee L. Lanza This is dreadfully un-edited, especially for a "3rd edition" ! I have noticed with other Kindle books that a certain percentage appear to be untouched by any professional editor. Perhaps they are just scanned in and sold as-is. In the case of Quantum Physics, the Kindle version seems like someone scanned in lecture notes written by a person whose native language was not English. The text is full of sentences that are not in fact sentences at all, but odd fragments. Spelling is often wrong and/or words are misused (the "illusive lion"). I have no physics background at all, but this book was difficult to read, not just because of the concepts being described, but because the language errors are so frequent and disruptive. I recommend instead Sean Carroll's "Search for the Particle at the End of the Universe."

6 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Superstrings! By Matthew Dellavedova I read a lot of these popular science books and usually learn something from them. This was no exception. The big takeaway from this book is that at the scale where quantum mechanics applies, the universe is really weird. It doesn't correspond in any meaningful way with our experience or our intuition. It's all well and good to say that elementary particles act like particles and also act like waves, but the way in which they do so just isn't really something you can wrap your mind around. This book really hammered on that point, effectively and interestingly.
